Guwahati: At a time when there reports of rising suicide cases in the Northeastern region since past few years, Gauhati University students rescued a Post Graduate Student who attempted to commit suicide inside her hostel room at RCC 7 Girls Hostel at the varsity on Tuesday.
As per a media report, the classmates of girl student informed that the girl had locked her up inside the room in the morning hours which alerted the other girls in the hostel.
Following which, they managed to break open the door and get inside the room.
The girl was found her lying unconscious and immediately took her to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for better medication.
The girl identified as the boarder in the hostel is a resident of Lanka and was in her third semester.
Speaking to media, few of the hostel mates had informed that the girl was she was a third-semester student was upset with an issue for the past few days.
Also, speaking to The Sentinel, Gauhati University student not willing to be named had confirmed the matter and stated the girl is out of danger as of now.
