Guwahati: Southern India, as forecasted by India Meteorological Department, is to experience heavy rainfalls due to the northeast monsoon. As per the latest forecast, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, southern Karnataka and Rayalaseema regions are to hit by northeast monsoon which brings along heavy showers.
The Met Department also observed “heavy to very heavy rainfall” at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the past 24 hours. As per the forecast, Nagapattinam and Karaikal received the most rainfall which was 14 cm and 7 cm, respectively.
Not only heavy rainfalls but thunderstorms accompanied with hail has also been predicted. The forecast mentions, “very likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.”
The monsoon this year is 10 days late, and there is a trough of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
