Guwahati: A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at a homestay in Guwahati, after which police detained four people, including two employees of the accommodation, for questioning.
As per preliminary reports, a Class 8 student from Kamrup district went missing from her locality on Sunday afternoon. She was reportedly found, in the early hours today near Shukleswar Ghat in Panbazar area.
Police team said Parameswar Nath, a youth from Goalpara, allegedly lured the girl from Singimari and took her to Rangmon Grand Homestay in Guwahati. She was allegedly kept at the homestay overnight before being found abandoned near a roadside area at Shukleswar Ghat.
Police have also detained Hirkajyoti Das, Bishal Barua and Lakshyadhar Nath in connection with the case. Bishal Barua and Lakshyadhar Nath are reportedly employees of Rangmon Grand Homestay, where the alleged incident took place.
All four have been taken into custody by Dadara Police for questioning as investigators work to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
