No Bonus in Diwali, no Service in Return: Air India Ground Staff on Strike

Sentinel Digital Desk

Guwahati: Around 400 ground staff of Air India are retaliating for not being paid bonus on Diwali and staged a strike at the Mumbai airport. The strike began on Wednesday night and is expected that as the day progresses, this strike is going to pose as a hamper in the Air India services. The strike may result in a delay in service provided and even in-flight services of the passengers who have booked tickets on Air India.

The ground staff of Air India is responsible for functions like checking-in passengers, loading/unloading bags, cargo; cleaning aircraft etc. They are responsible for ground handling for some foreign passengers as well.

A source states, "All Air India flights are being hit. Some like the Mumbai-Bangkok flight AI 330 are still on the ground." Notably, the AI 330 was scheduled to depart at 1.45 am and left 8.18 am after a delay of almost 7 hours.

Now it has to be noticed whether the Air India authority bows down to the demands of its ground staff and gets ready to bring them back to work.
