Guwahati: The Singapore Police Force on Wednesday said it has concluded its investigation into the death of Zubeen Garg and found no evidence of foul play.

“In response to media queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirms that investigations into the death of Mr Zubeen Garg in Singapore on 19 September 2025 have concluded and there is no evidence of foul play,” an official statement from Singapore Police Force said.

As per police, Garg died during a yacht trip in waters off Lazarus Island. He had initially worn a life jacket while swimming but later removed it.

"SPF’s investigations established that Mr Zubeen Garg was on a yacht trip in the waters off Lazarus Island. He had initially worn a life jacket while swimming but later removed it and returned to the yacht without his life jacket on him," the statement added.

During a second swim, he entered the water alone without a life jacket and was later seen becoming unresponsive while returning to the yacht.

It further said that the Garg was rescued by the yacht’s crew and companions, who administered CPR before authorities arrived.

"A Police Coast Guard team responded to the emergency, and he was taken to Singapore General Hospital, where he was declared dead," the statement read.

Post-mortem findings, including toxicology and autopsy reports, indicated drowning as the cause of death. The analysis also found a high level of alcohol in his blood, which could have impaired coordination and reflexes, police said.

The findings were submitted to the State Coroner, who on March 25, 2026, ruled the death as an accidental drowning, consistent with the police investigation.

"The police extends condolences to the family and urged the public to refrain from comments that could undermine the judicial process," the statement concluded.
