Suspected Bangladeshi intruder shot dead by BSF personnel at Fulkandi BOP in Karimganj

Karimganj: Border Security Force (BSF) posted at Fulkandi Border Out Post close to Indo-Bangladesh border of Karimganj Dist, shot an intruder while a group of cattle smuggler trying to cut the fence and enter Indian Territory.

Incident took place at around 1:00 am this morning.

The name and the full address of the intruder have not been ascertained yet.

Meanwhile, BSF has recovered, 3 sharp daggers, 1 fencing cutter and android mobile from the possession of the intruder.

According to the police sources, a group of 15 to 20 cattle smuggler yesterday night tried to enter Indian territory by cutting border fencing in the Fulkandi Border Out Post area under Patharkandi Constituency.

The BSF Jawan has stopped them in the crossfire 1 cattle smuggler died while others taking the advantage of the darkness managed to escape from the spot.

Meanwhile, Police have started a further enquiry in this matter.

The Border Security Force (BSF) is the primary border defence organization of India. It is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces of India, and was raised in the wake of the 1965 War on 1 December 1965, "for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected therewith". The BSF has grown exponentially from a few battalions in 1965, to 186 battalions with a sanctioned strength of 257,363 personnel including an expanding air wing, marine wing, an artillery regiment, and commando units. It currently stands as the world's largest border guarding force. BSF has been termed as the First Line of Defence of Indian Territories.
