Hyderabad: Actor turned politician, Nandamuri Harikrishna, the son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party founder NT Rama Rao died this morning in an accident on Annaparthi road near Narketpally in Telangana's Nalgonda district. He was 61.
According to media reports, Harikrishna was on his he was on his way to attend a marriage in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh from Hyderabad. His car, while trying to overtake another vehicle hit the driver when the accident took place.
The car was then hit by an oncoming vehicle from the opposite direction.
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police, AV Ranganath said that Nandamuri was declared dead on arrival at Kamineni Hospital in Narkeptally after he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The Police official also added that the actor was not wearing his seatbelt. As a result, he got thrown out of the car due to the impact of the collision.
After the news broke, his two sons Junior NTR and Nandamuri Kalyanaram rushed to the hospital. Incidentally
Junior NTR too was injured in a road mishap in 2009. Incidentally a son of Nandamuri Harikrishna, Nandamuri Janakiram had died in a road mishap in 2014, while Junior NTR had been injured in an accident in 2009.
Before joining politics, Harikrishna had acted in many Telugu films.
