Three State Government Block Development Officers Gets Suspended for Negligence in PMAY-G

Three Block Development Officers of Assam government have been suspended for not implementing the PMAY-G scheme through a special order issued by the state government. Notably, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) or Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMGAY) is a new housing scheme implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development and it submerges the previous Indira Awas Yojana into it.

The respective BDOs are found to be showing negligence in the implementation of the scheme. As through this housing scheme, the people of weak financial status are targeted to be provided with a pucca house along with the basic amenities, depriving one of his right and benefits is a crime and the three BDOs are responsible for not giving the housing benefits to the eligible people.

The suspended BDO’s are Girish Chandra Baishya of Hailakandi’s Lala Development Block, Ranjit Kalita of Borjalenga Development Block and Suraj Das of North Karimganj Development Block.

The rural housing development scheme PMAY-G aims at liberating the rural people from living in kutcha and dilapidated house by 2022. Primarily, the government aims at covering 1 crore households, living in kutcha house/dilapidated houses in three years from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
