Silchar, July 8: The recent statement of pro-talks ULFA leader Jiten Dutta has invited the wrath of many an organization and people. He went on record to say that he would enter the Valley of Barak with 1000 cadres riding on motorcycles. Against this statement, All Cachar-Karimganj-Hailakandi Students' Association (ACKHSA) has retorted that nobody is afraid of Jiten Dutta's statement. "We do not live in the fear of paper tigers. We are on our toes to face them. Let them come," said the advisor of the central committee of ACKHSA, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha while briefing mediapersons at a press-meet held here on Sunday.
Rupam Nandi Purkayastha further said that Jiten Dutta is living in a fool's paradise. "He is a fool and is completely mistaken if he thinks that his words will make us tremble. It is an island of peace. Jiten Dutta will have to face dire consequences even if he thinks of attempting something like this," he added to say. Rupam Nandi Purkayastha wondered at the silence of the State government. "Moreover, people of Barak Valley are the original inhabitants and they have all the right to stay here. We are not against the NRC. We want that names of genuine citizens should be in the final draft list. Harassment in the name of NRC update process will never be accepted at any cost," he added to say.
"In my opinion", Rupam Nandi Purkayastha continued, "Some anti social elements, very active in nature, are trying their level best to create commotion, chaos and confusion. They want to mislead the people. ACKHSA demands immediate arrest of Jiten Dutta. The government should also try to ensure peace and security in the State of Assam". Among others ACKHSA members present at the press-meet included Ripun Laskar, Abhijit Deb, Bikash Bhattacharjee, Sahanur Alam Laskar and Jayashree Nath.
