13 persons detained in excise raids in 17 days

The Kamrup (metro) excise department carried out raids in various parts of the district from December 1 to December 17.

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (metro) excise department carried out raids in various parts of the district from December 1 to December 17.

During these 17 days, total 21 cases were registered and seven persons have been arrested u/s 53(1)(a) of the Assam Excise (Amendment) Act, 2018. A total of 13 persons have been detained u/s 61 (B) (a) of the Assam Excise (Amendment) Act, 2018 and fine of Rs 28,500 has been collected.

The excise department recovered, seized and destroyed 188 bottles of IMFL and 830 kg of fermented wash. The raids were conducted at Basistha and Dispur in the Borbari, Japorigog, Lichubagan, Shankardev Nagar, Krishnanagar and Khanapara areas; at Sonapur neat Surya Cement Factory, Kamalajari and Sonapur Bazar areas; at Jalukbari in the Pandu Bazar, Tetelia, Gotanagar and Jaymati Nagar areas; at Borjhar in the Rani gate area, at Noonmati and Chandmari in the Satgaon, Narengi and Narikalbasti areas; and at Fatasil Ambari in the Ganeshpara and Bhatho Mandir areas.
