GUWAHATI: The 17th conference of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Assam State Committee concluded on Sunday in Guwahati. It was a two-day event in which 215 members of the AITUC elected Munin Mahanta the president and Ramen Das the general secretary. In the event, 17 resolutions were taken, mainly opposing the Electricity (amendment) Bill, 2021 and the privatization of the power sector. It insisted that there should be proper facilities for providing to female labourers during the pregnancy period, and that the wages of labourers, especially tea labourers, should be increased. It also criticized the government for its failure in controlling price rises.
