GUWAHATI: The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) convention was organized in Guwahati by District Health Committee, Kamrup (M), in which 669 ASHA workers were felicitated for their dedication and good work. GMCH Principal Dr Achyut Chandra Baishya was present in the occasion as the Chief Guest. And he appreciated the ASHA activists for their uninterrupted and dedicated service within the district of Kamrup (M). Dr Baishya also appeals to the National Health Mission (NHM), Kamrup (M) to pay the monthly remuneration to the ASHA workers in time.
Dr Kandarpa Kr. Das, Director of Health Services, said, “Kamrup(M) is moving toward a new direction with the benevolent service of the ASHA workers. Infant mortality rate and the rate of home births have also reduced to a considerable extent in the district. Besides, ASHA workers are contributing toward family planning as well.” In the occasion today, altogether 15 ASHA workers were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and awards.
