GUWAHATI: Crime Intelligence Branch of the Railway Protection force (RPF) seized 936 bottles of cough syrup from a train at Azara Railway Station. It was seized from the Tripura Sundari Express travelling from Firozpur to Agartala.
The team arrested three people identified as Ashis Kumar alias Vishal (21), Vikas Rangan alias Chootu (19), and Akash Kumar alias Vikash (21) all hailing from Bihar.
According to sources, on Wednesday, a Crime Intelligence Branch team of Rangiya Division under the supervision of SI Digambor Deka, conducted a raid in the Tripura Sundari Express and noticed three people carrying three trolley bags and three air bags from the rear general coach towards sleeper coaches in a suspicious manner. Being suspicious, the three were detained, and on checking their bags, the team found that they were carrying the banned cough syrup 'ESKUF'. None of them could produce any valid documents or any answer regarding carrying the banned items. They produced their travel ticket from Patliputra to Agartala.
When the train stopped at the Azara Railway Station, the team seized the bags, and the apprehended people were handed over to the RPF of Azara. Later, the items and the accused were handed over to the Azara Police Station.
