GUWAHATI: The results of the 4th Annual Golap Saikia and 2nd Annual Pratap Bordoloi Memorial News Reading Competition organized by the Regional News Unit, Aakashbani Guwahati were announced recently.
The competition was held in three categories, with the participation of competitors from different districts of the state as well as from other states. In the A-category, Hitartha Kashyap of Guwahati won First Prize, Stutinanda Saikia of Nagaon secured the second prize and Darshana Bhardwaj of Mangaldai was placed in the third position.
In the B-category, Nishigandha Boro of Nagaon bagged the first prize, Leena Baruah of Lakhimpur won second prize and Parikshit Medhi of Lakhimpur and Rashmita Hira of Amingaon, Guwahati jointly won third prize.
In the C-category, Bhargavi Nath of Guwahati secured first prize, Ricky Talukdar of North Eastern Hill University, Shillong won second prize and Pranjali Bhatta of Guwahati won third prize. Manorama Goswami and Lily Das of Guwahati received the Special Judges Award as the Senior Participants.
The first prize winners will be awarded Rs 3,000 each, second prize winners Rs. 2,000 each and third prize winners Rs. 1,000 each. The awards will be presented at the Golap Saikia and Pratap Bordoloi Memorial Function to be held at the premises of Aakashbani Guwahati on 1st October, 2023.
The competition is being held in memory of former news presenter Golap Saikia who passed away untimely in 2020 due to COVID-19 and Pratap Bordoloi, Indian Information Services officer.
