The wife of the deceased has already lodged an FIR at Basistha police station alleging improper treatment to her deceased husband.

The BI(EO) had arrested Rahul Amin, the CEO of Assam Vegetable Growers’ Cooperative Society, and three others for the collection Rs 50 crore in three years from the public in the name of some non-existing government schemes.

Talking to this reporter, Guwahati Central Jail jailor Ranjit Buragohain said: “Rahul Amin was sent to the jail on July 30, 2019. He had some blood problem. He was to undergo gall bladder surgery. On July 31, he was admitted to the GMCH for gall bladder operation. However, he died at 8.45 pm on August 1 in the hospital.”

According to the FIR lodged in Basistha police station by the wife of Amin, the CJM Court had asked the jailor for proper treatment of Rahul. However, the jailor and doctors have failed in their duty. Mystery shrouds the death as Amin was supposed to be produced before the CJM Court for hearing on August 3, 2019.
