GUWAHATI: The Union Minister of State (in charge) for Law & Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, and Culture, Arjun Ram Mehwal, announced the appointment of a total of thirteen judges and additional judges across different high courts in the country late on Thursday. The same announcement mentioned the appointment of Advocate Kaushik Goswami as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court.

"In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint the following as High Court Judges and Additional Judges. I convey my best wishes to them," mentioned the minister, along with a list of the appointed judges and additional judges.

The appointment of the judges and additional judges has been made by the president of India. Last month, the Supreme Court Collegium, consisting of Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, recommended Advocate Kaushik Goswami for appointment as Judge of the Gauhati High Court. The Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues, had earlier recommended his elevation as Judge of the High Court.
