The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) released its manifesto for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections on Thursday, laying out 18 resolutions under the banner of building a "secure and prosperous Assam."

The document was unveiled at the party's Ambari headquarters in Guwahati in the presence of senior leaders including vice-president Zoii Nath Sarmah and general secretaries Kamala Kalita, Manoj Saikia, and Tularam Gogoi.

The manifesto's opening commitment centres on the full implementation of the Assam Accord — a long-standing AGP demand — to protect the social, political, and economic rights of indigenous people, along with constitutional safeguards for their language, culture, and land rights.

The party also reiterated its demand for flood and river erosion to be declared national problems, a position it has held for years and one that resonates deeply with communities in the Brahmaputra valley.

On employment, the AGP pledged to generate jobs in both government and private sectors by promoting local resource-based industries and small businesses, backed by what the manifesto describes as innovative policies for a self-reliant economy.

Agriculture was identified as the backbone of the state's economy, with promises of transformative measures across farming and allied sectors and better market access for local producers.

The party promised overall development in education and healthcare — with a specific focus on infrastructure strengthening and expanding affordable services in rural areas, where access has historically been limited.

The manifesto also covers a broad set of social and developmental commitments, including preservation of Assamese and indigenous languages, inclusive development of tribal communities, support for tea tribe welfare, environmental conservation, sports promotion, rural tourism, and organic farming.

On governance, the AGP promised a transparent and corruption-free administration, with dedicated focus on safe drinking water, affordable electricity, and a drug-free Assam.
