GUWAHATI: The All Women's Book Club, a collective committed to empowering voices through literature, successfully organized a soulful evening titled "Poetry & Expression" to celebrate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the revered Nobel Laureate and cultural icon of India.
Held at the city's literary hub on Saturday, the event brought together poets, writers, educators, and Tagore enthusiasts in a celebration of verse, voice, and vision.
In her welcome address, president of the Club, Shrimati Mita Nath Bora, stated:
"Tagore believed in the power of the written word to liberate the spirit and unite humanity. "Poetry & Expression" is our humble offering to rekindle his vision and inspire more women to find their voice in literature. At a time when expression is both personal and political, this gathering stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of his thought."
The event was graced by Julee Deka Baruah as the guest of honour, who, in her address, highlighted the Book Club's initiative in fostering a literary space that champions creativity and expression.
Also present as special guests were Manoj Naayab and Pragya Maya Sharma, both noted and acclaimed poets.
The event featured live poetry sessions, original poetry readings by members of the Book Club and guests, and interactive expression segments, stated a press release.
