GUWAHATI: An Annual Cultural Function 2023-2024 of South Point School was organized on Saturday in the presence of a large number of students, parents, guardians, and well-wishers.
Makhan Lal Meena, Regional Officer, CBSE Guwahati Region, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp to mark an auspicious beginning to Vedic chants by the school choir. Kishore Kumar Choudhury, past Regional Director and Controller of Examinations, CBSE, now retired, was also present.
The students of the school presented a variety of cultural items on stage that included classical dance forms like Xatriya, Bharatnatyam, and Kathak; folk dances like Bihu, Bagurumba, and Naukhali from Odisa; fusions of classical and modern; and popular Bollywood numbers. A tribute to the Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar was also given through a collection of her timeless numbers, Indian classical and western orchestras, and also a musical yoga performance. The school rock band that won the last edition of Rockfest, the inter-school rock band contest, also performed their signature numbers.
Gold medals were presented to all toppers from the school in the last class 12 CBSE examinations by the chief guest, stated a press release.
