APDCL receives award for highest rooftop solar power installed capacity

GUWAHATI: At a time when the Government of India as well as the State Government has taken major initiatives to promote ecologically sustainable growth while addressing India's energy security challenge and to establish India as a global leader in Solar Energy under National Solar Mission, Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. (APDCL), a State PSU under the Government of Assam received award for achieving highest rooftop solar power installed capacity amongst the north-eastern states.

The award was presented by Bhagwanth Khuba, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India in the 8th Foundation Day Awards Ceremony for best performance in Renewable Energy Sector during 2021-22 organized by Association of Renewable Energy Agencies of States (AREAS), held at Cochin, Kerala on Augusy 27.

On behalf of the Managing Director of APDCL, Rakesh Kumar, the award was received by Santanu Bora, Chief General Manager (New and Renewable Energy), APDCL, along with his team of APDCL officials. Also, in the same awards ceremony, t Assam was declared to have achieved the highest renewable energy installed capacity as on 31.03.2022 amongst the north-eastern states.

APDCL has achieved installation of 170 MW of Large Scale Grid Connected Solar Plants and around 30 MW of Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power in Assam till date.
