GUWAHATI: The Asom Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) has threatened the State government that if its demands are not fulfilled by September 5, 2020, it will resort to serial agitations from September 6.
In a statement, the Sanmilani said, "This government has deprived us of our dues. This government has not been implementing the grade pay for the headmasters of primary schools that have been fixed the Seventh Pay Commission. For graduate teachers also, the government paid them grade pay for 17 months only to deduct the amount later. The government has conspired to enslave the contractual teachers by making them sign an agreement with the promise of giving them job security and all benefits till their retirement. On the pretext of regularizing their jobs, the government only deprived the teachers who have been working without salaries. It has also intruded into the rights of living of teachers by enacting a teacher transfer Act.
"On August 25, 2020 we met the Chief Minister Sarbananda sonowal and made him known our demands. He issued a directive to the department on our demands. If our demands are not fulfilled by September 5, 2020 we'll announce our agitation schedule on September 6."
