GUWAHATI: In a move aimed at bolstering public service and urban development across Assam, the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs has appointed new chairmen to 11 urban development authorities in the state. The appointments were made under the provisions of Section 8B of the Assam Town & Country Planning Act, 1959. As per the official notification issued by the department and signed by Secretary Richand Ahmed, the newly appointed chairmen will serve a tenure of five years from the date they assume office. The newly appointed chairmen and their respective development authorities are: Kajol Gohain for Tinsukia, Akhim Hazarika for Dibrugarh, Biswa Dev Bhattacherjee for Tezpur, Banadip Deka for Nalbari, Samiran Konwar for North Lakhimpur, Ashok Bhatta Rai for Biswanath Chariali, Biswarup Bhattacherjee for Sribhumi, Dipak Nath for Goalpara, Anil Kr Das for Barpeta, Pratap Bordoloi for Mangaldai, and Prasant Jyoti Goswami for Jorhat.
