GUWAHATI: In a significant administrative move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of public service, the Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, has announced the dissolution of the Bureau of Investigation (Economic Offences), Assam. Effective from June 1, the BI (EO) will be merged with the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam.
According to an official notification, all sanctioned posts currently held in the BI (EO) will be transferred to the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption along with the officers presently occupying those positions. In addition, all assets of the BI (EO), including vehicles, office files, and equipment, will be handed over to the Directorate.
The notification also states that all vacant posts under the BI (EO), except those belonging to the IPS and APS cadres, will be abolished with immediate effect.
