Assam: Drugs Seized; 4 Peddlers Arrested by Special Task Force in Guwahati City

Sleuths of the STF (Special Task Force) conducted raids at two places last evening and arrested three drug peddlers, leading to the recovery of 129 vials containing 174.05 gm of suspected heroin.

GUWAHATI: Sleuths of the STF (Special Task Force) conducted raids at two places last evening and arrested three drug peddlers, leading to the recovery of 129 vials containing 174.05 gm of suspected heroin.

According to sources, the sleuths conducted the first raid at Balughat under Baistha Police Station and arrested drug peddler Dipak Brahma, hailing from Bongaigaon. The sleuths seized 27 vials of heroin from him, besides a Scooty (AS01FH5928).

Based on Brahma's confessional statement, the sleuth conducted raids in a rented house at Garokuchi Path at Beltola Bazar and arrested two. The police seized 102 vials. The duo is Barot Patir and Mentaram Taye, both hailing from Dhemaji. Dispur police also arrested a drug peddler, Mahiruddin Ali, of Chhaygaon, at Lokhra Road last night. The police seized two packets of brown sugar weighing 24.72 grams from him, besides a bike.
