GUWAHATI: For the smooth conduct of polls, Micro Observers will be appointed to observe the polls proceedings that are scheduled to be held in three phases in the State from March 27.
According to guidelines issued by the ECI (Election Commission of India), the Micro Observers will include officials from the Central government and public sector undertakings.
Their main role will be to assist the General Observers which will be sent to the State by the ECI.
The Micro Observers will look after the poll proceedings in polling stations on the poll day, right from the conduct of mock polls, to the process of sealing of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) and VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails) and other documents. They will ensure that all instructions of the Commission are complied with by the polling parties and the polling agents. They will report to the General Observers directly regarding any vitiation of the polls proceedings in their allotted polling stations.
