GUWAHATI: A significant gathering of ex-servicemen, widows, and their dependents took place at Nagopara, Boko, Kamrup (Assam) on Tuesday. The event, organized by the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, aimed to provide a platform for addressing grievances related to pensions, banking, and documentation.
Col Barman highlighted critical welfare and resettlement aspects, including rehabilitation and resettlement schemes, welfare initiatives, and government schemes. Brig Choudhury expressed gratitude to the veterans and their families, urging them to engage in social and nation-building activities while assuring timely redressal of grievances.
Veer Naris, orphans, disabled dependents, and eminent veterans were felicitated, acknowledging their invaluable sacrifices and contributions to the nation.
The rally witnessed active participation from 126 ex-servicemen, 86 widows, and 104 wives and dependents of ex-servicemen. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and served as a platform to address the concerns of the ex-servicemen community while promoting their welfare and empowerment, stated a press release.
