Assam: Gitartha Dev Sarma Posted in CID, Assam Police

Assam government has issued a notification announcing the transfer of Gitartha Dev Sarma, APS (DR-2016), who had been serving as Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) in Baksa.

GUWAHATI: The Assam Home Department has issued a notification announcing the transfer and new posting of Gitartha Dev Sarma, an officer of the Assam Police Service (Direct Recruit Batch of 2016). Sarma, who has been serving as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) in Baksa district, will now take up duties in a new capacity within the state police establishment.

According to the notification, Gitartha Dev Sarma has been posted as the Additional Superintendent of Police, CID (Training), Assam. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of training and capacity-building activities under the Criminal Investigation Department. His appointment aims to strengthen the department’s training framework and enhance the professional efficiency of personnel involved in investigative and intelligence operations across the state.

In addition to his new responsibilities at the CID, Sarma has also been authorised to serve as Administrative Officer and In-charge Deputy Director at the Directorate of Forensic Science, Assam. This dual assignment underscores the government’s confidence in his administrative abilities and his experience in handling investigative functions. As part of his new duties, Sarma will coordinate between the investigative and forensic divisions to ensure smoother cooperation in crime detection and evidence analysis.

The transfer is part of the Assam government’s broader reshuffle within the police department, aimed at streamlining operations, improving coordination, and strengthening law enforcement efficiency across various districts and departments.
