GUWAHATI: The continuous protest against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) doesn’t seem to stop soon. In the first week of the New Year the guardians along with the teachers of Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati staged a demonstration opposing the CAA.

The protesters said that foreigners are foreigners and they can’t be identified as Hindu or Muslim. Naren Kalita, one of the guardians, said that it is unfortunate to see the government taking no action against those BJP and RSS activists instigating the public. “We appeal to the government to release those arrested in the anti-CAA protest,” he said.

Ghanasyam Medhi, the principal of Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, said that being self-centric and not raising voice against this anti-Assam CAA will invite a critical situation for the future generation. “Where will we leave our next generation when there will be no identity of the Assamese? Those who love this land are coming spontaneously to raise their voice, and those who're still silent are not thinking about their next generation,” Medhi said.
