GUWAHATI: As many as 34 candidates – 29 of Gaon Panchayat members and five Anchalik Panchayat members – were unopposed in the ensuing panchayat poll in the state slated to be held on May 7.
Of the 34 seats, seven belong to the Jalukbari co-district, and the remaining 27 are in the Dimoria co-district. Of the seven seats in the Jalukbari co-districts, five are of GP members and two of AP members. Ward numbers 1 and 4 from Garalgaon GP, ward number 6 from Dharapur GP, ward number 4 from Kahikuchi GP, ward number 5 from Azara GP, and Garal GP under Ramsarania AP come under the Jalukbari co-district.
The unopposed winners from the Dimoria co-district are ward numbers 4 and 7 under Amsing GP; ward numbers 5, 8 and 10 under Digaru GP; ward numbers 1, 6, 9 and 10 under Borkhat GP; ward numbers 2, 2,3 and 8 under Baruabari GP; ward numbers 3, 3,9 and 10 under Sonapur GP; ward numbers 4, 7 and 9 under Tetelia GP; ward number 9 under Naratap GP; ward number 3 from Khetri GP; ward number 10 under Malubari GP; ward numbers 5 and 10 under Dhupguri GP; ward number 2 under Topatuli GP; etc.
