Assam Police collected over Rs 1.7 crore fine during lockdown

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Sunday informed that it has arrested 3,823 people and collected Rs. 1,72,97,100 as fine across the State in the last 40 days for violating the lockdown norms.

In its daily report on the lockdown, the department said 1,800 cases have been registered for 2,591 incidents since the beginning of the restrictions.

Besides, 23,322 vehicles and 32 boats have been seized from various parts of the State during this period. Out of the total vehicles, 21,099 are two wheelers, 1856 are four wheelers and 325 are three wheelers.

The Assam Police is also taking a proactive step against fake news, the statement said. Ninety-five cases have been registered so far and 49 people have been arrested.

In addition to these, the Assam Police has also classified 27 places as containment zones.
