Guwahati: State Innovation and Transformation Aayog, Government of Assam and Directorate of Research (Veterinary), Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara has organized awareness cum input distribution programme at Bongsor-Gandhmow cluster of Sualkuchi area of Kamrup district of Assam on December 23. The programme was initiated by Dr. Mihir Sarma, Principal investigator of Samriddhi poultry phase -II who described the project in details.
Addressing to the gathering, Vice-Chairman Narayan Chandra Borkataky of SITA stressed on continuous effort on farming and saving for future expansion of the poultry business. He also urged upon the farmers for skill upgradation through training provided by AAU, Khanapara. Dhruba Prasad Baishya, Co-Vice Chairman, SITA urged upon self-employment through poultry farming for increase egg production. Increased egg production help to improve nutritional status of the family as well as improvement of household economy. Dr. Probodh Borah, Director of Research (Veterinary), AAU, Khanapara in his speech urged upon the farmers to go for scientific rearing of poultry for self-employment and women empowerment.
The programme was ended by inaugurating two new poultry unit by Vice-Chairman Narayan Chandra Borkataky. The programme was also attended by Dr Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Professor, Poultry Science, Dr Sadananda Payeng, Asstt. Prof, Deptt. of Extension Education, officials from SITA and beneficiaries, stated a press release.
