GUWAHATI: Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA), has strongly condemned the shocking incident of the alleged rape of a mentally challenged woman inside the Sribhumi District Jail. In an official statement, PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that such crimes are extremely disturbing and appear to be on the rise.
He wanted to know from the Chief Minister if there are any lapses in the measures taken for the safety of the differently-abled people that have led to such a crime committed by the police personnel.
Malakar urged the government to take swift and strict action against the accused. He further stated that perpetrators of such heinous crimes must be punished appropriately and to ensure that such incidents are never repeated, especially against vulnerable sections of society.
