GUWAHATI: The Assam Public Works Department (PWD) is working diligently to complete the railway over bridge (ROB) at Panikhaiti’s Railway Crossing Gate in Kamrup (M) district by June 2025. The ROB, which will be a two-lane over bridge, is being constructed at a cost of Rs 57 crore, with the expenditure being shared equally by the Assam PWD and NF Railway.

Currently, the launching and erection of girders are underway. According to a senior official of PWD’s Dispur-Dimoria territorial road division, “Due to the ongoing launching of girders, traffic will be diverted at times at Panikhaiti Railway Crossing until the completion of the launching and erection of the girders.”

The official acknowledged the complexity of the project, stating, “The work is very complicated as it is on a railway line with frequent train movements between Guwahati and upper Assam. So, the construction is being carried out with utmost care.”

“Once completed, the ROB will provide a smoother travel experience for commuters between Narengi Tiniali-Panikhaiti-Chandrapur and Morigaon,” he said.
