GUWAHATI: Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, a unit of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math (West Bengal), has been tirelessly rendering valuable spiritual and philanthropic services for the well-being of the needy and economically weaker people.
During the year 2023-24, the Ashrama’s Charitable Dispensary treated 30,303 patients and distributed medicines free of cost. The Mobile Medical Unit provided free medical services to 4,506 patients in different interior tribal areas.
In addition, 6,642 patients were treated through various medical camps and health awareness camps. The Ashrama also provides free boarding, lodging, and medical treatment to 32 tribal students.
Apart from these services, the Ashrama regularly conducts relief work for the poor and needy people. During the year 2023-24, the Ashrama distributed 10 tantasals, 11 sewing machines, 12 scholarships, 469 dhotis, 525 sarees, 670 blankets, and other daily essential items free of cost.
Last year, the Ashrama benefitted numerous poor families by distributing daily essential items worth Rs. 3,19,647 during times of difficulties due to fire accidents and poverty, stated a press release.
