GUWAHATI: A hit-and-run car accident took place in Guwahati's Shraddhanjali Flyover on Zoo Road on the night of Goru Bihu. The alleged four-wheeler attempted to escape from the accident site after striking various pedestrians along with an e-rickshaw close to Bamunimaidam Railway Colony. Hence, before ramming into the divider on the flyover, the vehicle sped away violently.
The involved vehicle's registration number was AS01 EX 5877. The incident resulted in sustaining serious injuries to several pedestrians who were walking on the street. Before all passengers escaped, four people were travelling in the vehicle with the driver when the accident took place.
The accident caused massive outrage along with serious concerns among citizens of the city during Rongali Bihu. The Guwahati police have started their investigation and are currently tracing the vehicle and those involved in the crash. Nearby CCTV footage is under review, and eyewitnesses are being questioned.
Meanwhile, a speeding car caused multiple accidents in Assam's Dhubri, injuring several people and creating chaos on the streets. The incident occurred when a Maruti Suzuki 800 (registration number AS-01AB-3729) lost control and collided with multiple vehicles.
Eyewitnesses stated that the car, carrying four to five occupants, was moving at a dangerously high speed. It crashed into several vehicles, including a three-wheeler goods vehicle, causing significant damage.
