GUWAHATI: The SIT (Special Investigation Team) grilled former minister and APCC president Ripun Bora at the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) for about four hours today in connection with his alleged connections involving a man named Ali Tauqeer Sheikh of Pakistan and now MP Gaurav Gogoi.
The interrogation was related to an Assam CID case (5/25).
After the grilling, Ripun Bora informed the media, “The SIT team led by SP Dr. Rosie Kalita grilled me for around four hours. In the interest of the investigation, I won’t disclose what the SIT questioned me about during the grilling. The team made me hear what I had said during one of my recent press conferences and asked me why I defended Gaurav. They also asked me what information I had that made me defend Gaurav Gogoi. The SIT told me that they would call me again if needed. I told the team of my readiness to face grilling even 100 times.”
Bora further said, “I have requested the SIT team to summon BJP MLA Diganta Kalita, who has written on social media about Gaurav Gogoi’s 15-day stay in Pakistan in detail. His social media post shows that he has information regarding Gaurav Gogoi, as Kalita was a Congress man at that time.”
Speaking to the media after the grilling of Ripun Bora, SP Rosie Kalita said, “Bora admitted that he had to make some statements as damage-control measures for the Congress. He also said that this was a political statement. He cooperated during the interrogation. He, however, couldn’t provide the information that we sought. We’ll summon him again, without delay.”
