Guwahati: Samagra Shiksha Assam, (SSA) has announced a comprehensive 4-day Block Level Non-Residential Training programme for teachers teaching Classes III to V under the ‘Teaching at the Right Level’ (TaRL) initiative. This training is being conducted in collaboration with the Pratham Education Foundation and will be rolled out in two phases across all districts.
The first phase of the training is scheduled from August 5 to August 8, followed by the second phase from August 18 to August 21.
According to SSA, the training aims to equip selected teachers with pedagogical strategies to address foundational learning gaps in elementary education. Teachers from Government, Provincialised, Local Body, and Tea Garden (T.G.) managed LP, MV, and Composite Schools will be selected based on specific criteria. Schools with 100–200 students (Classes 1–5) will send 2 teachers, more than 200 students will send 3 teachers and single-teacher schools are exempted from participation.
Teachers must already be trained under Foundational Literacy and Numeracy- Foundational Stage (FLN-FS), be active in Classes III to V, and exhibit a willingness to implement TaRL strategies, including peer learning, community engagement, and post-school interventions.
The training will take place in smart classrooms or schools with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities. Each session will host no more than 50 participants and will be led by Resource Persons (RPs) trained at the state and zonal levels. Training materials will be provided in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, and English. Emphasis will be placed on proper documentation, with districts required to submit a detailed report, including photographs and video clips, within seven days of completion.
