Guwahati: In a significant move to enhance the effectiveness of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) initiative, the government has decided to extend classroom session durations from 45 minutes to one hour during practice sessions under the TaRL programme. A directive has been issued by Narayan Konwar, secretary of the Education Department, to Additional District Commissioners (Education), Inspectors of Schools, District Mission Coordinators (Samagra Shiksha Assam), and District Elementary Education Officers, instructing them to implement the revised classroom timing. This decision follows a proposal made on May 2, 2025, by the State Head of the Pratham Education Foundation. The Pratham Foundation, in collaboration with the Assam government, is implementing the TaRL approach in classes III and V across the state.
