Assam: Ten-day NCC camp begins at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-151 of NCC cadets of 60 Assam Girls Bn NCC, Guwahati, and other units of NCC Group Headquarters, Guwahati, under NCC Directorate NER, Shillong, started on December 9 and will conclude on December 18 at Saru Sajai Stadium, Guwahati.

The event brings together enthusiastic cadets from various units and institutes, aiming to foster leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of national pride among the youth.

A total of approximately 275 NCC girl cadets from around 30 schools/colleges/universities in Guwahati and nearby are attending the camp. These girl and boy cadets are of 9th class and up to 3rd-year graduation students of various institutions in Guwahati and nearby areas. The aim of this camp is to introduce NCC cadets to a regimented way of life. Camp Commandant Col Ajay Kumar Sharma guided them to be disciplined, organized and learn the military way of life. During camp training, the endeavour is to give cadets maximum exposure to range drill, firing, and specialized training with an emphasis on community living, discipline, first aid, character, and confidence building. The foundation of the camp was built upon a robust curriculum designed to hone the cadets' skills in numerous domains. This camp will also be an eligibility criterion for NCC 'A,' 'B,' and 'C' certificate examinations.

During the period, there will be various competitions like volleyball, debate, painting, elocution, firing competition, tug of war, drill, line area, etc. Various guest lectures by experts on topics like 'How to be a good citizen of India, Know Your Army, Traffic Management, etc.

Brig Ajit Kumar Borah, VSM, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Guwahati, visited the camp location on December 11. He interacted with cadets and inspected the administration and training schedule. During the interaction, the senior army officer motivated cadets to be disciplined and sincere towards life.
