GUWAHATI: In a recent notification, the judicial department, Government of Assam, has appointed two new public prosecutors to the Gauhati High Court. Advocate Koustov Gogoi has been appointed as public prosecutor, while Advocate Jayanta Chutia has been appointed as additional public prosecutor. Both appointments took effect immediately and will remain in place until further orders.
The appointments were made under the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The newly appointed prosecutors will be paid fees as per the notification.
