Assam: Women and Child Development & ITC Join Hands for Early Childhood Care

An MoU was signed between the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam, and ITC Limited to strengthen Early Childhood Care

PALASBARI: An MoU was signed between the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam, and ITC Limited to strengthen Early Childhood Care, Education, Development & Nutrition in 11 districts of Assam, including seven aspirational districts, namely Hailakandi, Goalpara, Dhubri, Barpeta, Baksa, Udalguri, Darrang, Nalbari, Morigaon, Kamrup Metro and Kamrup district of Assam, on Wednesday.  This shall be through cascading training of Anganwadi workers on home-based responsive caregiving practices and strengthening play-based learning in reference to the National Framework for children from birth to six years and fourteen lakh women and children will be benefitted through this initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Gauri Sankar Sarmah, Director of the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Assam, expressed the notion of integrating the public and private sectors to fight against malnutrition for all-round development of the children under five years. He also conveyed gratitude to ITC Limited for extending continuous support to the Women and Child Development department in their programmes of nutrition, early childhood care, education, and development. Other notable dignitaries who attended this event included Satyajyoti Barua, Additional Director, Department of Women & Child Development, and Keshav Chadda, Factory Manager, ICML Kamrup ITC Limited, among others.
