Guwahati: YouTuber Apoorva Makhija on Saturday appeared before the Crime Branch of Guwahati in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of promoting obscenity and vulgar discussions during the reality show India’s Got Latent.

The case, registered on February 12, 2025, names several popular internet personalities, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina, alongside Makhija. They have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023; the Information Technology Act, 2000; the Cinematograph Act, 1952; and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. As part of the investigation, other YouTubers have already appeared before the crime branch. Ashish Chanchlani and Ranveer Allahbadia appeared before the Crime Branch in March, while Samay Raina gave his statement on April 5, and Jaspreet Singh followed on April 12.

The case pertains to allegedly objectionable remarks made during the broadcast of India’s Got Latent, sparking public outrage and leading to legal action.
