Assam: YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani Appears before Guwahati Police

YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Crime Branch of Guwahati police in connection with allegations of promoting vulgar comments and obscenity on an online show named “India’s Got Latent.”

GUWAHATI: YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Crime Branch of Guwahati police on Thursday in connection with allegations of promoting vulgar comments and obscenity on an online show named “India’s Got Latent.” Chanchlani, who was accompanied by his legal representative, cooperated with the investigation, and was released after recording his statement.

In this connection, Joint Commissioner Ankur Jain informed the media, “The accused Chanchlani appeared, and his statement was recorded and he will be called again when required in the investigation. We also got many vital facts.” Joint Commissioner Ankur Jain further warned that influencers who have not cooperated will receive fresh notices. “If they don’t comply, strict action will be taken.”

Meanwhile the Gauhati High Court had earlier granted interim bail to Chanchlani , instructing him to appear before the investigating officer within 10 days. Earlier, Guwahati Police issued notices to five prominent YouTubers—Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina—asking them to appear before the Crime Branch for questioning.
