GUWAHATI: In a bizarre incident, a female con artist was able to loot over nine lakh rupees from a person in Guwahati in the name of transferring an Indian-made foreign liquor licence "on shop" licence in the city. A complaint was filed regarding the incident at the Bharalumukh Police Station with Case Number 120 under Sections 406, 420, and 468, and one Pallavi Rabha was arrested.
According to the complaint filed by Ujjal Das, Pallavi Rabha presented herself as the legal representative of Smt. Moina Rajbongshi, who has one Indian Made Foreign Liquor Licence "On Shop" (IMFL On Shop) vide Licence No. EX.116/90/85 dated August 27, 1993, and was willing to sell it for Rs 8,80,000 with an additional Rs 50,000 for miscellaneous expenses.
She allegedly operated with a group of 10-12 miscreants to dupe people out of their money. She also allegedly produced fake documentation to convince unsuspecting victims and dupe them of their money.
