Guwahati: Joining the rest of the nation in celebrating Guru Purnima, the Dispur Capital Mandal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed the occasion on Thursday with a Guru Seva initiative in the Rukmininagar area of Guwahati.

As part of the celebrations, BJP members visited the residence of Chakradhar Muttak—an official of the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha and president of the local water supply scheme—who has significantly contributed to the development of Rukmininagar. He was honoured for his service and commitment to the community.

The event saw the participation of several key figures, including Guwahati Municipal Corporation Ward No. 48 Councillor Dulumoni Kakoti, former councillor Ranjan Das, and BJP leaders Kailash Mohanta, among other party workers.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the cultural ethos of Guru Purnima—an occasion traditionally marked by expressing reverence and gratitude to those who guide and serve society. Celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Ahaar (Ashadha), Guru Purnima continues to uphold India’s age-old legacy of honoring knowledge and community service.
