GUWAHATI: Bone and Joint Day was observed at Superkidz Pediatric Orthopaedic Institute, Trinitas Medharbor, with a free paediatric orthopaedic camp organised under the theme “Healthy Children for a Healthy Future” to promote awareness of childhood bone and joint disorders.

More than 30 children from different parts of Assam and neighbouring regions underwent comprehensive orthopaedic evaluation and received free consultation and treatment. Parents were also counselled on the prevention, early diagnosis and management of common musculoskeletal disorders in children.

Addressing the programme, paediatric orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sukalyan Dey stressed the importance of healthy bones and joints during childhood, highlighting the need for injury prevention, early diagnosis and evidence-based treatment to prevent lifelong disability. The camp also raised awareness about congenital deformities, fractures, developmental disorders, gait abnormalities and sports-related injuries.

The programme concluded with a call for greater public awareness and early referral of children with musculoskeletal problems.
