GUWAHATI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has successfully recovered the money that was fraudulently withdrawn from the bank account of a resident of Uzanbazar in the city, within 24 hours.
Dr Ankur Hazarika, a resident of Uzanbazar, received an SMS on his mobile phone on October 31 that Rs 20,000 had been withdrawn from his State Bank of India (SBI) Panbazar account. On checking he found that Rs 35 lakh had been fraudulently withdrawn from the account. He immediately lodged an FIR (case no 587/21) at Panbazar PS and a complaint at the CID helpine number.
The CID swung into action and within 24 hours, recovered the Rs 35 lakh that had been fraudulently withdrawn from the account.
