Cleanliness Drive At Basistha Temple

GUWAHATI: Keeping with the MoU signed between the Basistha Devalaya Authority, Guwahati and Voice of Environment on May 27, 2018 a team VoE started a mission named ‘Clean, Eco-friendly Plastic-free Basistha Temple Premises’ on the World Environment Day (June 5, 2018). The VoE conducts such mass awareness campaigns on the temple premises from time to time to create a mass sensitization among devotees, visitors, local shopkeepers, vendors, residents and temple priests. On the occasion of Sravani Festival, a Bol Bom Mela is underway on the premises of the temple. People from VoE led by Bhaskar Hazarika, Environmentalist Moharana Choudhury and Girish Kotoki collected plastic and other materials from the premises and the Basistha river on Sunday. They also requested devotees not to litter the premises with plastic bottles and other materials, a press release said.
