GUWAHATI: Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha (ASKAM) has questioned the Directorate of Higher Education, Assam as to why it has deprived them by not provincializing their posts along with the provincialization of 690 posts of 134 colleges. The Mancha has sought intervention of Education Minister Himanta Sarma into the matter.

Addressing the media here on Monday, ASKAM president Kushal Haloi said, "A number of college teachers whose posts, according to the law, should have been provincialized have been deprived. We're quite ignorant of the reason for such a deprivation. As we know, we've been deprived for obtaining degrees from universities outside Assam. A number of eligible teachers who obtained their degrees from Assam universities have also been deprived. The provincialization of posts has not been as what the Minister did announce. We demand rectification of the mistakes made by the Directorate so as not to deprive eligible candidates."
