GUWAHATI: The BJP has said that the Cons has reduced itself to Muslim League by working as the patron and rehabilitator of Bangladeshis. The party, according to the State BJP, is no longer a party for all and is surviving with the support of a section of religion in our community.

Talking to the media at Atal Bihari Vajpaye Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday, State BJP spokesperson Muminul Aowal said: “The Congress party has been reduced to Muslim League. Ever since the independence of India this party, while in power, brought lakhs of people from erstwhile East Bengal and Bangladesh to Assam. This party never thought for the future of Assam, and will never do.”

Hitting out at the AGP, Aowal said: “Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was elected the Chief Minister of the State twice. He, however, failed to do anything worthwhile for Assam during his two terms. He failed to take any bold decision for the wellbeing of the State. With the BJP coming to power in the State, the Sarbananda Sonowal-led government is taking decisions for the interests of the people of the State, and for that the Congress and the AGP are nervous wrecks.”

Claiming that the BJP will come winner in the panchayat poll, Aowal said: “Assam needs a corruption-free and transparent panchayati raj system for the proper use of funds for rural uplift. And the BJP can do this.”

Senior party leader Dhruba Prasad Baishya was also present at the press meet.
